Gulf Shores police intensified their beachfront patrols, resulting in 47 arrests and over 200 traffic stops, as per the latest announcement from the Gulf Shores Police Department. The law enforcement's spring break initiative aimed to educate visitors about local laws and regulations, promoting voluntary adherence and issuing warnings where deemed necessary. Despite these efforts, some individuals disregarded the law, leading to numerous arrests and citations.
From early Friday the 22nd to Monday morning the 25th, police action led to 39 citations, 131 verbal warnings, and 51 written warnings from over 200 traffic stops.
Arrests included:
25 for underage alcohol possession
14 related to drug charges
6 for various offenses
1 for theft
1 for public intoxication
Additionally, in a joint effort with Baldwin County deputies, three handguns were confiscated from individuals legally barred from having them, including a person on federal parole.
The Gulf Shores Police Department emphasizes the community’s family-friendly nature and open invitation to enjoy its pristine beaches, urging everyone to abide by the law. The department strictly enforces regulations against underage alcohol consumption, drug use, DUI, and weapons violations, underscoring a policy of zero tolerance and no warnings for such offenses.
